Westport Holiday Shop N Hop & Outdoor Markets

Westport Holiday Shop N Hop & Outdoor Markets

Friday November 26th started last weekend off with the annual Westport Holiday Shop N Hop and let me tell you, the village was indeed hopping. Shops were open early and very busy! The European-style outdoor market put on but the Westport Arts Council saw many hundreds of patrons throughout the day/evening. It was great to see the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony at the village town hall; Santa Claus at The Victorian Luxury Suites, Steve Kennedy performing on just about every corner in Westport throughout the evening; the horse-and-buggy rides throughout the village brought a smile to my face; and The Cove Inn featured a “Songwriter’s Circle” complete with four amazing local artists.

For a complete visual recap of Friday night, here are some photographs documenting the event.

Here is a wonderful “thank you” message from Jane Clark, one of the grand prize winners sent to Cynthia Pringle, the main organizer of the Shop N Hop:

I want to thank you, your team and all the businesses that participated in the “Shop & Hop” event you had this past Friday. The outdoor markets, horse & buggy rides, even Santa came!!  Topping it all off with live music later, absolutely fantastic. I was thrilled to have won the grand prize. I do appreciate all the donations that were made after a very trying 2 years for businesses due to the pandemic. Westport is such a lovely town and all the shopkeepers are so friendly and helpful. I was amazed how patient they were when so many of us were running from store to store to get our ballot signed. I do hope there are lots of sales this Christmas season and also for the up and coming year Thank you so much for all the time and effort that was spent on making Westports holiday event so successful. I wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy & Healthy New Year.

Saturday November 27th, Westport was back at it with more outdoor markets! First up was the Westport Market Christmas Edition from 12-4pm. I arrived about an hour into the event to hear that the rush had already been amazing and many vendors were happy with their results so far. Vendors and artisans spanning many different genres all had holiday-themed products and art for sale.

Here are some photos I took at this event:

It was then a short hop, skip and a jump over to Scheuermann Vineyard + Winery for their “Rustic Winter Wonderland” complete with vendors and artisans, and homemade takeout options and drinks to keep you warm as the sun started to set. Another beautiful environment to end a great day (and weekend) in Westport.

Thank you to all involved in making this past weekend a HUGE success.
