Make sure you clear your schedules so you can enjoy all the events planned to celebrate Canada Day in Westport. The Royal Canadian Legion Upper Rideau Branch 542 have a number of activities planned throughout the village. Starting at 8am with breakfast in the village and concluding with fireworks at the end of the day. Here are the details:
- 8am – 10:30am: Breakfast in the Village at the Westport Welcome Centre.
- 2pm: Annual Bicycle Parade & Opening Ceremonies. Led by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 542 Colour Party, starting at St. Edward Catholic School, stopping at the museum for opening ceremonies, and continuing down Bedford, Church and Spring Streets, ending at the Arena.
- 12pm – 4pm: Children’s activities and face painting, music by DJ Tom Gard and Elvis, all happening at Westport Lions Beach.
- 11am – 5pm: Helicopter Rides out of the Rideau Lakes Airfield. Shuttle from Circle K, reserve your spot at Circle K any time.
- 9:30am – 4:30pm: Visit the Rideau District Museum.
- 2pm -4pm: Carriage Display on Rideau Street.
- 12pm – 2pm: Hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages and fries available for Legion Hamburger Friday.
- 5pm – 6:30pm: Legion Wing Night (please pre-order by emailing rclbranch542@gmail.com).
- 7pm – 10pm: Live Music on the Legion 542 patio (please bring your own lawn chairs)
- 10pm: Fireworks behind the Legion (please bring your own lawn chairs)
- (Watch for the all-day shuttle bus to get you around the village).
