Journey Fitness + Wellness offers a variety of yoga, Pilates and meditation classes from the serene Lakefront Studio surrounded by hardwood forest overlooking Devil Lake. Journey Fitness + Wellness was established in 2004, and the Lakefront Studio location opened in 2020. Only minutes away from Westport, overlooking beautiful Devil Lake and surrounded by hardwood forests the studio is the perfect place to start or continue your journey to wellness.
The studio offers a variety of yoga, Pilates and meditation classes in an intimate, close-to-nature setting which reminds us of our interconnectedness. Practicing yoga in combination with meditation on a regular basis will help you feel more balanced and better connected to your inner-self leading to overall health and wellbeing. Adding a regular weekly Pilates class will complement your yoga practice and build both inner and outer strength. Check out the “my studio” section of the website for information on styles and series of classes on the schedule. You can also schedule your very own private or semi-private series of classes which can be shared with up to three of your family or friends. My intention is to create a safe space for students to explore and embrace silence and stillness and notice what’s truly going on in the inner landscapes of their being – connecting mind, body and breath… ultimately receiving the many health benefits of the practices of yoga, Pilates and meditation. I am passionate about sharing the knowledge of these mind, body practices which each are opportunities to step away from the busyness of the day to reconnect with oneself so that we can then reconnect with our communities of family, friends, neighbours, and everyone that we come into contact with in a healthy way.
My journey in the health and fitness world started more than 17 years ago when I became a Personal Trainer and Nutrition and Wellness Specialist. Over the years, working with many clients and having my own personal experiences with injuries led me to becoming a yoga and Pilates teacher. Eventually, I would retire and move to a beautiful home on Devil Lake so nicely situated on the water surrounded by nature – the perfect setting for a small studio and morning sun salutations a reminder of our interconnectedness. It’s hard not to feel the healing effects of being in this beautiful setting. Everyday, I am so grateful for this space to practice in. Taking time each day to relax and renew is essential to living a happy and healthy life. I hope that you will join me one day soon to roll out your yoga or Pilates mat for a practice even if at the moment it is virtually from your home.
