What’s for Supper Tonight Westport

During the early COVID-19 months, there was an initiative on the What’s on Westport Facebook page that ran under the hashtag: #whatsforsuppertonightwestport. Spearheaded by Tamara Carlson, readers of the page could post a photo or recipe (or both) of what they were making for dinner that night. It was a way to bring everyone together (virtually) to share a meal, something many had been missing while they were social and physical distancing.

That ended once July came to a close because August was a perfect month to get out and (safely) shop and dine in Westport. Many, if not all the restaurants, cafes and pubs had some sort of outdoor seating setup to serve both the tourists that started coming to Westport again and the local community alike.

So I wanted to write this blog post today because August is winding down (Booooooo!) and we won’t see as many tourists in the village as we did, leading way for the perfect opportunity for locals to get out and help support our community. On Friday you can head over to the Legion for their “Hamburger Fridays.” Or is there a better time to grab a sandwich and a treat at The Cottage Coffee House while you are out and about? Maybe it’s time to head over to the Westport Brewing Company to grab a pint at their Harbour-front Beer Garden? The Westport Market always has some great finds on Saturday or if you are making plans to not only pickup your bread and dessert orders from The Pie Bar Saturday morning, make a reservation at Scheuermann’s or The Cove for a nice dinner out this Saturday night! And of course if you are planning to play a round of golf at Evergreen Golf Course, plan to also stay for a bite afterwards.

Also because it’s #CanadaUnited weekend, there isn’t really a better time than now to show your support for all the local businesses who have fought long and hard to stay open this year through all the trials and tribulations they have experienced. For a very comprehensive list of Westport businesses and community groups, please visit the Business Profiles section of our website.

So, this weekend, let’s share a virtual meal together once more. Take a photo of where or what you are eating while out in the village this weekend and either post it to the comments section below, or to the thread I’ve started on the What’s on Westport Facebook page. Shop local. Dine local. #whatsforsuppertonightwestport!
