About the Authors:
Josephine (“Jo”) Matyas is an award-winning travel writer who has published extensively for two decades on destinations around the globe. Her travels have taken her hiking, snorkelling, on safari, and tasting her way through dozens of countries. She has travelled by plane, helicopter, train, bus, car, boat, dogsled and snowshoes.
Let’s be honest: travel writing is an interesting way to feed a deep-seated addiction to travel (one she came by honestly from her parents). Jo publishes on soft outdoor adventure, culture, history, parklands, and out-of-the-way places, and her work has appeared everywhere from The Globe and Mail to Luxe magazine.
Craig Jones is a lifer-musician trained in political economy at Queen’s University. The eclectic mix of music, history, politics, and current affairs is what drives his writing, lecturing, teaching, and performing with bands and choirs.
Before taking up residence in Kingston, Craig toured Canada with various rock and roll bands plus a short – but memorable – tour with the late Stan Rogers. Between pandemic lockdowns, he performs and teaches across Eastern Ontario. Since completing his doctorate in 1997, he has worked as a health policy researcher, a consultant on mental health service and delivery, and as Executive Director of two national NGOs. He has a long-standing interest in the unintended consequences of drug prohibition.
Working together has been serendipitous. Combining music, travel and writing has been a dream lifestyle come true.
